Provisions Change Not The Provider-considering Joshua 5:12-

There's a verse in the Bible that's given me a new way to look at things. Even though I've seen it before and have skipped over it, this time I hesitated and reread it and realized something I haven't before.

Here is the verse from KJV, "And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land..."

It says the manna ceased. That's it. That one sentence. Think about it and what that meant. For 40 long years,  every morning,  God fed Israel the same way. Then one day it stopped. Can you imagine waking up that morning, walking outside, expecting what had always been there and then it's gone?  At first that sounds unsettling until you realize why. They weren't in the wilderness anymore. They were in the Promise Land. And suddenly that verse dawned on me.

What if the hardest parts of growing is realizing God won't always do the next season the way He did the last one? We are creatures of familiarity. We love what we're used to even when God is doing something new. Sometimes we'll keep looking for yesterday's manna while standing in today's promise. That made me think and ask myself, 'Where am I expecting God to repeat Himself? Where have I confused God's faithfulness with God always using the same method? Maybe that's why some people think God has left them. Not because He is suddenly absent, but because they are looking for manna in a season of harvest.

The provision changed,  not the Provider!

I needed that reminder because SOMETIMES WHAT FEELS LIKE LOSS IS ACTUALLY AN INVITATION TO GROW.
Have you been looking for yesterdays manna when God already brought you into a new season? I hope this has given you a new perspective.

Until He Comes.
